Epilogue
Mitch
Mitch moved from Gorham St when he married Ruth Blumenthal in 1930 (?). They lived in an apartment for a short time, and then moved to a house on Thayer St. Mitch taught English at Franklin High, and Ruth was a secretary at Eastman Kodak.
Mitch and Ruth came to Friday night dinner on Gorham St every week. And they frequently would bring friends of theirs, or Ruth's sister and brother-in-law. Mitch stayed close with the family. He took Et and Bucky for trips to the parks in and around Rochester. Mitch and Lou had been best friends while in Rochester, and that relationship continued. Mitch was an excellent photographer; he took the pictures and also developed and enlarged them. Many of the family pictures that we had were taken by Mitch. He also designed and built the modification to Mollie and Lou's automobile so they could store and retrieve the tents and other gear that Mollie and Lou would be using on their extended motor trip across the country. He built the bookcases for his house. It seemed that he could do just about anything, and do it well.
Mitch was in his last year of teaching at Franklin High in 1937. They were planning to go to New York in the fall where Mitch would work on his PhD. Mitch died of pneumonia in the spring of 1937 at age 28. Ruth committed suicide two weeks later. She was 29. (It was Lou who had gone to the house on Thayer St, smelled the gas and found Ruth dead.)
